Manufacturer Sort Code
Manufacturer Sort Codes are setup in "Manufacturer Sort Code Entry" in INVENTORY (5.1.11.3), which are defined by you and used to group Manufacturers into categories. You may have three positions in a Sort Code. It is not necessary to use all three positions.
Example of Manufacturer Sort Codes:
Level 1 |
Level 2 |
Level 3 |
P=Paint Mfr |
D=Qty Discount |
D=Delivers |
A=Adhesive Mfr |
N=No Discounts |
P=Pickup |
The Manufacturer Sort Codes would then be setup as follows:
PDD = Paint Manufacturers who offer Quantity Discounts and Delivers; PDP = Paint Mfrs who offer Quantity Discounts but must be picked up; AND = Adhesive Manufacturers who do not offer discounts but deliver; etc…
Enter in the Sort Code and press <ENTER>. If you do not know the Sort Code, enter a <?> and press <ENTER>. Use the <PAGE UP> and <PAGE DOWN> keys to scroll through the selections, if applicable. Type in the Selection Number, and press <ENTER>.
Pattern Match
You can choose a Sort Code through a Pattern Match using the <*>. Examples of pattern matches are: 12* = all codes starting with 12, *3* = all codes with 3 in the second position, **1 = all codes with 1 in the last position. If a blank is in any position, the system will search for a blank in that position, (ex: 3* = all sort codes with 3 in the first position and nothing in the third position). Type in the Manufacturer Sort Code Pattern Match and press <ENTER>.
If you want a report that lists ALL Sort Codes, enter ***. This will list each Sort Code separately on the report in Alphanumeric order. This feature is only available in Inventory Reports.
Inventory Group Code
Group Codes are setup in INVENTORY (5.1.9), and are used to categorize inventory in any way as defined by you. These codes may be used to limit reports and Customer Special Pricing by Manufacturer line. There are five positions available for the Group Code. It is not necessary to use all five positions.
Example of setting up Group Codes (using PPG):
Level 1 |
Level 2 |
Level 3 |
M=Mixed Paint |
0=Delstar |
0=No Suffix |
F=Factory Pack |
1=Deltron |
1=SC Suffix |
S=Staples |
2=Duracryl |
2=H Suffix |
The Group Codes would then be setup as follows:
M00 = Mixed Paint, Delstar with No Suffix; M01 = Mixed Paint, Delstar with SC Suffix, etc...; F00 = Factory Pack, Delstar with No Suffix, etc..., S = Staples.
You may then look up any level by using the pattern match.
Enter in the Group Code and press <ENTER>. If you do not know the Group Code, enter a <?> and press <ENTER>. Use the <PAGE UP> and <PAGE DOWN> keys to scroll through the selections, if applicable. Type in the Selection Number, and press <ENTER>.
Group Code Selection on Reports
You may select with Group Code equal to null. At any Group Code prompt enter #***** (pound sign (shift 3) and 5 asterisks) to select with that Group Code equal to null. The way to select Group Code NOT equal to null is ***** (5 asterisks).
The Group Code Selection Criteria accepts multiple group codes, ranges and group codes not equal to a group code or range. The following help will appear for all Group Code prompts:
* Press <ENTER> for ALL Group Codes. Enter <?> for Group Code Lookup.
* Enter multiple Group Codes and Ranges (A05-A99) separated by a comma. Prefix with a <#> to exclude Groups Codes (ex. A01, A02, A05-A99, #A12, #A15-A20).
* Enter an asterisk <*> for pattern matching (ex. 12* will select group codes starting with 12) (<*> will not work in Ranges).
There are a total of five separate and independent Group Codes. The Group Codes have the same functionality as the original Group Code (referred to as Group Code 1). If items exist in the additional Group Code files, Group Code prompts will open up automatically to accept the Group Codes. If additional group codes are entered the screen will display each group code prefixed with <G> and the group code number.
The four additional Group Codes are primarily available in Inventory but also in a few other select parts of the system. For example, the "Sales Analysis Reports" in SALES MANAGEMENT (2.1), only accept Group Code 1 for reporting.
Pattern Match
You can select Group Codes with pattern matching using the asterisk <*>.
Examples of pattern matches are:
12*** = all codes starting with 12, *3*** = all codes with 3 in the second position, ****1 = all codes with 1 in the last position.
If a blank is in any position, the system will search for a blank in that position, (ex: 3*** = all group codes with 3 in the first position and nothing in the last position). Type in the Inventory Group Code Pattern Match and press <ENTER>.
If you want a report that lists ALL Group Codes, enter *****. This will list each Group Code separately on the report in Alphanumeric order. This feature is only available in Inventory Reports.
