1.10 Port Entry
Previous Topic  Next Topic

Port Entry is used to set the following:  Printer Assignments for reports and invoices, Location, Invoice Date, Terminal Type, and Back Office Post flag. This setup needs to be done for each Port. You may also change the Invoice Date for all ports quickly in Port Entry.

If you use a function key from the Main Menu to go into Port Entry, and you change the Port Location (field 2), the new Location will be updated immediately upon returning from the function key. If you are within a program, the Port Location will not change until you return to the Menu.

1.  Description - Enter Port Description.

2.  Location - Enter the Location of this Port. Enter <?> for Listing of Locations.

3. At times you will need to change the Invoice Date on all the Ports. For example:  you forgot to do the

"End of Day Close" (1.2). This feature allows you to change the Invoice Date for all your Ports in one step. Enter a <C> and press <ENTER> to change the Invoice Date on ALL Ports. Enter the new Invoice Date, and press <ENTER>. The number of ports changed will be displayed.

IMPORTANT: The Invoice Date will not change while in the middle of an Order in "POS Order Entry" (1.1), you must finish the Order and go to the "Order Number" field for the Invoice Date to change.

4. Terminal Type - Enter the Terminal Type for this Port. Enter <?> for Listing of Terminal Types.

5. Back Office Post allows you to enter an Invoice Number manually at "POS Order Entry" (1.1) after a Debit Invoice (DI) has been finalized. This is mainly used when an off-site location is not on-line and you are manually entering the Invoices. The Back Office Post should be set to <N> for normal operations.

6. The Slave On prompt will tell the system to turn on the Slave printer port attached to the terminal. Enter the decimal values, separated by spaces, and press <ENTER>. The most common values are 27 51. Please contact the Perfection Software Support Department to verify values.

7. The Slave Off prompt will tell the system to turn off the Slave printer port attached to the terminal. You must have the Slave Off command if you have a Slave printer. Enter the decimal value, separated by spaces, and press <ENTER>. The most common values are 27 52. Please contact the Perfection Software Support Department to verify values.

Enter option <SL> at the Enter Selection prompt at the bottom of the screen. This will allow setup of AccuTerm Slave Printer Names.

1. System Printer Name - Enter System Printer Name. Enter <?> for Slave Printer Lookup.

2. Invoice Printer Name - Enter Invoice Printer Name. Enter <?> for Slave Printer Lookup.

3. Pick Printer Name - Enter Pick Printer Name. Enter <?> for Slave Printer Lookup.

4. POS Customer Display Printer Name - Enter POS Customer Display Printer Name. Enter <?> for Slave Printer Lookup. Enter <TERMINAL> when using a Dumb Terminal on this port instead of an Accuterm PC workstation.

NOTE: You need to assign which physical printer is assigned to each of these printer functions. The printers must be set up in "Printer Setup" in SYSTEM MANAGEMENT (10.2.8).

Printer assignments can be maintained by Location. To turn this feature on you must create MASTER PORT.LOC.SPASSIGN in TCL first. If the feature is enabled, the Printer Assignment Numbers (field 8) will be stored by Location. When you go into the program for the first time and change Locations (field 2), the printer assignments from the previous Location will be copied.

When editing a port there is an option: <C>opy Location Specific Printer Assignments. This option is available for anyone that utilizes multiple printer assignments based on Location. For this feature to be enabled there must be an entry in MASTER PORT.LOC.SPASSIGN, with a 1 in attribute 1. A password, if desired, is stored in attribute 2.

NOTE: You must first go into Port Entry and make sure the location you want to copy from is in field 2 and the printer settings in field 8 are setup properly.

After entering <C> to copy you will be presented with a password if one is setup. After that you will get a prompt similar to the following:

This option will Copy Port 8 Printer Assignments for Location 2 to ALL

Ports with no Printer Assignments for Location 24 unless Overwritten.

Enter <C> to Continue, or <CO> to Continue with OVERWRITE:

At the <C> and <CO> option, you can enter a <P> to change the password.

You may set a Slave Print Delay if your Slave Printer cannot handle the printing speed of larger reports. This feature is number 15, and found on the second page of Port Entry. It is recommended that you start with 1, and then go up from there. Leave this field blank if you are not experiencing problems with Slave Printing.

You may specify a Download Path to use with AccuTerm©. The download path will be the MS Windows© path for downloading files. If this field is left blank, the default is C:\TEMP.

The Logon Command field is usually used to send printer control commands to the Slave printer but can be used to execute any command when logging on to this port.

You may set the Time Zone for the specific Port. This feature is currently used in “TimeCard Entry” (1.11). If left blank, the time zone will be the system time zone. This is helpful if you have Locations in different time zones. This allows Time In and Time Out to reflect the actual local time instead of the system time.
