The label print program operates the same for the Okidata and the Zebra printers. The labels will have the Part Number, Description, Unit of Measure and the Bar Code printed.
The types of bar codes that are printed are UPC-A and CODE 39. The UPC-A is defined by bar codes entered into the system as 11-digit numbers in Bar Code Entry (5.1.8.1). The check digit is automatically calculated and printed on the label. CODE 39 is used for bar codes that are not 11-digit numbers.
The program is setup to print on continuous feed 3 ½ x 15/16 labels, one-across only for all printers except #6 below. The HP LaserJet or PCL5 Compatible printers print on standard 1 x 2 5/8, 3-across, and 10-down labels. These are standard labels that can be purchased at any office supply store.
There are six printing programs:

5.1.8.3.4 Zebra S-500 Stripe & 2844-Z
The Zebra S-500 Stripe printer has an option to print a small label (1 ½ x 1) or large label (3 x 2). After choosing a particular size, the program will remember which option you chose and use this as your default label.
The -Z on the Zebra 2844-Z printer is important, it designates zebra emulation.
The following Label sizes are available:
<S> to print Small Label (1 1/2" x 1").
<S2> to print Small Label (2 1/4" x 1 1/4").
<M> to print Medium Label (3" x 1").
<L> to print Larger Label (3" x 2").
You also have the option to print the Primary Bin Location on the label.
Print Primary Bin Loc:
* Enter <Y> to print the Primary Bin Location, Quantity on Hand for that Bin Location, and Quantity Sold on the label.
* Location 21 will be used to retrieve the Primary Bin Location.
If a Location is used in the selection criteria then that location will be used to determine the primary bin location. Otherwise Port Location will be used.
NOTE: Be sure to go into Popularity Code Setup (5.5.1) and lock the pop fod (field 9) so that pop code <L> is not removed when popularity codes are recalculated.
5.1.8.3.6 HP Laserjet or PCL5 Compatible
The HP LaserJet or PCL5 Compatible print program prints just like the other Bar Code programs. It will print UPC-A and Code 93 bar codes to HP LaserJet or any other PCL5 compatible printer. Must laser printers made include PCL5 as a standard feature but not all do. Please check the specifications of the printer or just do a test print if the printer is available. This will also work for newer printers that support PCL6. Most Inkjet printers do Not support PCL5 and will not work. To print labels you must get Laser Labels which are 1 x 2 5/8 wide, 3-across and 10-down. Otherwise you can print these Bar Codes on plain paper to produce a Bar Code Book. There is a utility program TEST.PRINT.BC.PCL that can be run from TCL to test print, if desired. You must do an SP-ASSIGN first. NOTE: There is a program for OKI 320/321 Tubos that already exists and prints Bar Codes very nicely. If you have one you may start printing labels immediately on standard 1 x 3 ½ address labels, 1-across. The advantage the Okidata has over the HP LaserJet is that you can print one label at a time, whereas on the Laser you would have to waste an entire sheet of laser labels if you only need a few labels. The HP LaserJet does have a higher quality output.
When printing 3-column Bar Codes and the bar code is too big for the column, the program will automatically reduce the size of the print. The only consequence is when printing mixed length bar codes, if the program detects a long bar code, it will shrink all bar codes on the same line regardless of size.
Zebra S-500 Stripe, S-600, 2844-Z (5.1.8.3.4)
Oki 320/321 Turbo/520/521 (5.1.8.3.5)
HP Laserjet or PCL5 compatible (5.1.8.3.6)
The following prompts are availabe to the above Bar Code Label print programs:
Price Code:
* Enter Price Code to print Price on Label or Leave Blank to Not print a Price.
Price Print Position:
* Enter <1> to print the Price Code Price in place of the Unit of Measure.
* Enter <2> to print the Price in place of the Description.
* Enter <3> to print the Price to the right side of the Description.
Description Prompt:
If <M>anual Entry is selected and only one part number is selected to print. The following prompt will appear after entering that part, unit and # of labels:
Enter Description to print on label:
The part description will default into the field, but you can override that description and it will print on the label instead of the real description.
Prompt for Bin Location:
This will select all the parts with that bin location assigned. The following prompt will appear first when you run the program:
Perform <S>ystem Select, <M>anual Entry or <B>in Loc Select:
If you enter <B> then the following prompts will appear:
Location:
Bin Location:
# of Labels per Part:
Enter the location where the bin location exists, the bin location and the number of labels to print
per part. If the Total Quantity On Hand is zero then the bar code for the part will not be printed.
Print Additional Real Bar Codes:
This prompt will appear only if printing one part and there is more than one real bar code setup for
the part being printed. A real bar code is defined as the primary bar code entered, bar codes setup
with the Case Flag or the Is Bar Code Flag.
A prompt similar to the following will appear:
There are 2 additional Bar Codes for this part:
* Press <ENTER> to continue or <?> to Lookup Bar Codes for this part.
Primary Bar Code: 07660765324
Standard Pack: 5
Press <ENTER> to print the primary bar code or <?> to lookup a list of the bar codes for this part.
When doing a <?> Lookup a display similar to the following will appear:
Bar Codes - 3 items
1. 07660765324 EACH
2. 10101010101 EACH Case Qty: 20 Std Pack: 5
3. 7660765324 EACH Case Qty: Std Pack Std Pack: 5
This shows the unit of measure, the Case Quantity if there is any, and the standard pack for
reference. Notice where the Case Qty = Std Pk in the third bar code. This means that the case flag is set to <Y> but the case quantity is left blank so that it will default to the standard pack when used.
Non-UPC Bar Codes will print as Code 93 on the HP LaserJet printers, as opposed to Code 39 that prints on the Okidata printers. Code 93 can represent the full ASCII characters set with a few exceptions and produces a denser code (smaller bar code).
You can choose to have the system select the Part Numbers to label or manually enter the Part Numbers yourself. In System Select printing will select a group of part numbers based on your criteria. In Manual printing you enter one part number at a time.
System Select - Part Numbers
The system will select which label to print based on the criteria you choose.
Type an <S> for System Select and press <ENTER>.
You may print only those part numbers for a Location with the Quantity on Hand greater than zero (0). This will print labels for only those part numbers that have a Quantity on Hand. This is very useful when you are initially marking your shelves and only want to print labels for items in stock.
You may specify the number of labels that you want to print for each Part Number Unit of Measure or you may have the system print only the number of labels equal to the Quantity on Hand. If there is a zero or negative Quantity on Hand, then no labels will be printed for that Unit of Measure. To print the number of labels equal to the Quantity on Hand, enter a Q and press <ENTER> in the # of Labels per Part prompt.
You must select Location with QOH >0 in able to print labels equal to the Quantity on Hand.
When printing labels on a Zebra S-500 printer, you have a choice between a small label (1 ½ x 1) or a large label (3 x 2). After choosing a particular size, the program will remember which option you chose and use this as your default label.
The Zebra S-500 Stripe printer allows you to select a Price Code to print on the labels. If chosen, the value for the Price Code will print instead of the Unit of Measure. If left blank, the Unit of Measure will be printed.
Manual Entry of Part Numbers
In manual entry, the program allows you to enter individual Part Numbers and Units of Measure to print labels.
You must enter an Individual Part Number.
After entering in the number of labels per part number, the cursor will be at the "Part Number" to continue adding Part Numbers. When you are finished adding Part Numbers, with their Unit of Measure and number of labels, just press <ENTER> at the "Part Number" prompt. The number of items selected will be displayed at the "Part Number" prompt.
Select the number of labels across the sheet based on the type of labels in your printer.
