Resetting NT Printers


With D3 NT the order here is import to reset the serial or NT printer.  It will not start unless this is done.


  1. Connect to customer site and identify the printer#


  1. Log to the DM account: type in a LQ Confirm the printer #


  1. Type:LISTPTR <enter>  See if the printer is inactive or active. If it is inactive, this is an indication that the spooler isn’t working. In this situation, use the STARTSPOOLER (F. If it shows active, use the following commands and check all connections.


  1. Find the printer # and identify the port #


  1. SP-KILL D# ßprinter # <enter>


  1. DEV-REMOV #ßport # <enter>


  1. RESET-USER #ßport # <enter>


  1. Type in CT MD USER-COLDSTART <enter>


  1. Find the DEV-MAKE command, copy and paste it at a colon


  1. Start the printer: Example (printer #1 on port #5). STARTPTR 1,1,0,S5 (S <enter>



STARTSPOOLER (F 


This command kills the spooler, restarts the spooler and places all jobs in the hold files.
