Troubleshooting and Resetting Printers in D3

This document is to be used after you have connected to a customers site.

  1. Identify the Printer Number.  Do this by going from the Main Menu and type DM and hit ENTER.
  2. At the colon “:” type in LISTPTR and hit ENTER.
  3. Find the Printer number then identify the printer port.  The printer port is the LINE specified.  It would look like this:

  1. Then type in SP-KILL D# and hit ENTER. (# = the printer number).
  2. Then type in DEV-REMOV # and hit ENTER.  (# = the port number)  If you are trying to troubleshoot an NT printer, the line number may be a bogus number, but you need to do this anyway.)
  3. Then type in RESET-USER # and hit ENTER. (# = port number)
  4. Then type in CT MD USER-COLDSTART and hit ENTER.
  5. Find the DEV-MAKE command for the printer and use you mouse to highlight a box around it.  Make sure you do not highlight the numbers on the far left; they are the sequence numbers which have nothing to do with the DEV-MAKE command.  See image below.

  1. In the image above, the STARTPTR command is right next to its DEV-MAKE command.  You may copy both of these at the same time.
  2. Next, hit enter until you get to a colon “:”, and then click EDIT and then PASTE at the top of the Accuterm toolbar.  The commands should paste in and the printers should start.

NOTE: Some customers have IP configurations that you need to telnet into them.  If you need to find this out, go to TCL and type in !IPCONFIG and hit ENTER. You will get a list of their IP addresses to use during a TELNET session.
