Use this program to Supersede a Part Number to a new number. You may copy the sales history to the new Part Number. You may also "un-supersede" a Part Number.

Type in the Superseded Part Number as follows: the Manufacturer Code first, a <.>, then the Number (example: 3M.2000) and press <ENTER>. Part Number must already exist.

Type in the new Part Number. Manufacturer Code must already exist.

Enter <Y> to Supersede Part Number with new Part Number.

Enter <N> to Enter Different Part Number.

Enter <M> to Supersede Part Number and Merge Qty Sales History.

Warning:  Merging Qty Sales Cannot be Reversed by Unsuperseding.

Auto Supersede is an option available when superseding one part number to another existing part number. The concept behind auto superseding a part is simple; the part numbers will remain separate and will not supersede until the QOH, Quantity On Hold (QHD) and Defective QOH from the old part number has been exhausted. Once the quantities are depleted in all locations part superseding will take place automatically with no user intervention required. However, since it may take some time for all locations to reach a QOH of 0, during the interim, those locations that are out of stock need to be selling and purchasing the new part number.

Note: If a part is setup to "Auto Supersede", then the part is returned using the old part number, these credits will upcount Quantity on Hand using the old part number.

If the new Part Number already exists, the Sales History and Other Inventory Data will NOT be copied but you will have the option to Merge Quantity Sales History. If the new Part Number does not exist, you will have a choice to have the Sales History copied to the new part number. The Quantity On Hand will be transferred to the new number.

When a Part Number is Superseded, the Bar Code for that Part Number's Units of Measure are copied to the new Part Number and deleted from the old. (Unless the new Part Number already exists before Superseding, then the Bar Code will remain with the old Part Number.)

If the Superseded (old) Part Number is then Un-Superseded, and the Superseding (new) Part Number is not kept on file, then the Bar Code is copied back to the old Part Number.

If the Superseded (old) Part Number is Un-Superseded and the Superseding (new) Part Number remains on file, then the Bar Code remains with the new Part Number.

You may Un-Supersede a Part Number entered. Enter the Superseded Part Number and press <ENTER>. Enter <Y> and press <ENTER> to un-supersede the Part Number.

You may have a Superseded Number remain in Inventory after Un-Superseding: You must update the Part Numbers with the current data and Quantity On Hand.
