New For October 30, 2006

This PPG Price Update no longer includes the Shopline part numbers.  PPG requires special authorization to receive this line.

There was a significant number of DBC and DBU factory pack part numbers which PPG did not supply.  Be sure to run the reports to find out which part numbers were not updated.

Changes from 1999-2005

(05) – The PPG Price Update now includes the Shop Line part numbers.  The PPG Price Update now has a new Line of parts which are Delfleet Essentials.

(04) - PPG is now supplying the Commercial Performance Coatings Line (CPC), previously known as the Light Industrial Coatings (LIC).  Instead of the option for 4 MFR Codes there are now 5 choices.  Please be sure to follow Step 1 carefully.  PPG has also added new Mixes this year called the Vibrance Special Effect Pigments.  Please remember to print the reports, this will list the part numbers that needs to be set up as End Products. If you have any questions please contact our Support Department @ (800) 766-7530

(03) - PPG is now supplying a SHOP price for the OMNI line. They have discontinued the M500 series in OMNI and associated part numbers (like mixed part #s) There are quite a few part numbers missing UPC codes that PPG did not supply.

(02) - The PPG price update now includes Nexa Autocolor, which includes a new paint quality called Valu Pro.  The Delfleet line has been added under the PPG Mfr. Code.  Instead of the option for 3 Mfr. Codes there are now 4 choices, for those who prefer to keep the Nexa Autocolor line separate.  Please be sure to follow Step 1 below carefully.

(01) - There are also additional DBU factory pack part numbers removed this year.

(99) - PPG discontinued the DAU line. It will not be updated.  There was a significant number of DBC and DBU factory pack part numbers that were removed, which will not be updated.  Be sure to run the reports to find out what parts were not updated.

NOTICE - PPG sends the complete Factory Pack loadpack along with their data.  Many of you may have removed your factory-packaged colors from your data.  Be advised that the factory pack part numbers will be added if you choose to add new parts.  In addition to this, the part numbers in the PPG loadpack do not have price suffix information for factory packaged colors as part of the part numbers.  However, we have programmed the update to identify your part numbers regardless of how they are entered.  For instance: if you have PPG.DBU3575H as a part number, this part number should be updated in the same manner as for someone who has PPG.DBU3575 as the part number.  The update should not add the PPG.DBU3575 as a duplicate part number.  If the Add Parts Not on File option is chosen, any factory pack parts that are added WILL NOT have the price suffix attached to the part number.

IMPORTANT          IMPORTANT          IMPORTANT          IMPORTANT               IMPORTANT

If you do not use price suffixes in the factory pack part numbers, the part will only be updated if PPG has included it on the disk.  Be sure to print the reports to peruse what PPG may have discontinued.

The price update disk must be loaded at the SERVER.

Use the program found in the Markup Prices menu (5.6.2.2) called "Load Perfection Price Update".  Select Drive "A" for 3.5-inch floppy disk and type C to continue. We strongly suggest loading this disk upon receipt, as prices will not be affected until you activate them.  This will help eliminate any possible last minute problems with the disk itself.

*Once you get to the field where it asks for the MFR Code BE SURE to remove the disk. If you do not remove the disk and have to reboot the system, the system will not restart.

  1. You will need to enter 5 Mfr. Codes at this prompt, for PPG, Global, Omni, Autocolor and Commercial Performance Coatings.  They must be entered in that order.  If you do not carry or wish to update one or more of those lines, use NONE in its place.  In other words, if you carry PPG and Omni, but not Global, AC or CPC, you would type PPG NONE OMNI NONE NONE  (Using your mfr codes).  If you had all 5 under code PPG, you would type PPG PPG PPG PPG PPG.  The determining factor used in the data is the part number itself:

  1. Parts starting with M will use your Mfr code for Omni.
  2. Parts starting with D immediately followed by a number will use your Mfr code for Global.
  3. Parts starting with P immediately followed by a number will use your Mfr code for Autocolor.
  4. All other parts will use your Mfr code for PPG.

Naturally, this may lead to a small number of parts not being updated or added under the wrong MFR code, depending on how you have your part numbers entered.  Keep this in mind as you review the reports that print at the end of the conversion.

  1. Effective Date: Be sure to pick an effective date that is not already in use for price updates.  To accept the current date, just press <ENTER>. **Be sure to write down the effective date you used to load the price update so that you have it available when you are ready to activate the new pricing**

If doing additional markups/markdowns after completing the load of the update disk, be sure to use a different effective date after activating the prices contained on this disk.

  1. Jobber Cost Code (98): Enter in your Replacement Cost Code, usually 98.  You can enter <B> for both 98 and 99, but this is not recommended.

  1. Shop Code: Enter in your Price Code for the Shop price, usually Price Code 5 = Shop/Refinisher.

  1. Fleet Price Code: Enter in your Price Code for the Fleet price, usually Price Code 7 = Fleet.

  1. Add Parts NOT on File: To add parts that are in the PPG Update but not in your Inventory, enter a <Y> press <ENTER>.

NOTE:  This program will not modify existing part numbers.  It will only update the prices.

If you do not want to add new part numbers, enter a <N> and press <ENTER>.

  1. Add Units Not on File: If you want to add those units of measure that are on the disk for part numbers that exist in your database, enter <Y> and press <ENTER>.  NOTE:  If you answer <Y> to #6 above, ALL units will be added to NEW part numbers, regardless of whether you answer <Y> or <N> to this question.  This option applies only to those parts that are in your database, but missing one or more units of measure. If there are already 4 units of measure on file, the new unit will not be added.

*** WARNING ***                When Adding Units Of Measure                *** WARNING ***

If you have a part number set up with CAN and GALLON for example, and the disk has the item as 8OZ and GALLON, you will end up with a part number with CAN, 8OZ, and GALLON.  Otherwise, this is a helpful option to add new sizes introduced by the MFR.

  1. Update PC 99 for Mix Parts: If you want to update the Warehouse (Average) Cost with the new cost on Mix Parts ONLY, enter <Y> at this prompt.  This can be helpful, as the warehouse cost is not ever updated on mixed part numbers via receiving.  The replacement cost will be used to update the warehouse cost.  If you have answered <B> for both 98 and 99 in the cost prompt above, answering this prompt will have no effect whatsoever on the conversion.

  1. Unit of Measure: The Mfr Unit on the left is what PPG uses.  The "Your Unit of Measure" on the right is what your Unit of Measure is.  Make any corrections necessary to the Units of Measure in the right column.  (For example: If you use GAL for gallon, change the GALLON to GAL.)  Continue down the list by pressing <ENTER>.

At Enter Selection, enter a <C> to convert the update information.

If you want a report of items that are not on file (on the update disk but not in your inventory file), enter a <Y> at the prompt, and press <ENTER>.

If you want a report of items in your inventory that did NOT get updated, enter a <Y> when prompted.

NOTE:  The reports will be long.  It is highly recommended that both reports be run.

NOTE:  $0.00 costs/prices will NOT be updated.

NOTE:  An Error List will automatically be generated, regardless of the answer to the above questions.

The update will take approximately 1/2 hour.

This update loads the information into the Preload file in "Markup Prices" in Inventory.  At this point the update acts as if you have manually typed in the new prices into Preload Prices.  To review the list, you may print a "Preload Prices Report" (5.6.2.4) by the effective date.

You MUST Activate Preload Prices (5.6.2.5) to have the new prices take effect. At the Activation we recommend that you DO NOT Maintain GP Structure.  You should use the default of N at this question.

If doing additional markups/markdowns after completing the load of the update disk, be sure to use a different effective date after activating the prices contained on this disk.

Please make a note of any new Units of Measure of Part Numbers and manually add them to your Inventory if you chose not to add them automatically.   Make a note of any new tints or mix part numbers and manually add them to your Components & End Products.  The error list will help you identify new components and end products, but may not be complete.
