Changing Group Codes by Pop Codes

Inventory Group Code change in TCL


  1. From the Main Menu go to TCL


  1. Type in SELECT INVENTORY.LOC WITH POP.CODES “X” and hit ENTER.  (X= the popularity code letter.)  All part numbers will be selected and then it will place the cursor at the > awaiting your next command. It would look like this:

  1. The next command is SET-ATTRIBUTE and hit ENTER to se the attribute on the file.

>set-attribute (and hit ENTER.)


  1. Next it will ask you to enter the name of the file you are dealing with; in this case it is INVENTORY.  It would look like this:

Enter Name of File : INVENTORY (and hit ENTER.)


  1. Next, it will ask you for the attribute you want to change which in our case is 4 ( group code).  It will look like this:

Attr(s) (Separated by Commas) to be Changed (Up to 20) : 4 (and hit ENTER.)


  1. “Enter value number :” and “Enter subvalue number :” on both of these please hit ENTER. Put nothing in them.


  1. It will then ask, “Value to Put into Attribute:” and in this case we want all part numbers to be a certain group code.  Enter the group code and hit ENTER.


  1. It will then ask,

“Confirm that you want to Replace the Data in this Attribute With XXX (Y)?” and you will enter “Y” to confirm.


  1. It will then tell you that the items have been flagged.
