Instructions for 3M Price Update
Previous Topic  Next Topic

New for 2005-The Duramix and Automix are now part of the 3M Price Update.  In order for these part numbers to be updated with the new pricing they must be under your 3M/MMM Mfr code.

New for 2004-There has been a new option added to the price update program. You now have the ability, while loading the price update, in field #9 to enter a vendor code for new part numbers if the Current Source is different than your mfr. code.

New for 1999-There have been many changes to the data provided to us by 3M.  We have incorporated new features so that our customers can take advantage of the additional information available.  We now have Broken Case selling prices AND costs available, as well as our previously standard 1 Case selling price and Full Case cost.  In addition, for those of you that sell EACH/s of sandpaper and other case-lot breakdown part numbers, you can specify that you want to use the PUBLISHED price vs. the older method of only allowing you to markup a straight division of the Box or Sleeve price.  Please read the instructions carefully for further information on these features.

The price update disk must be loaded at the SERVER.

You should have a menu option 5.6.2.2 Load Perfection Price Update in your system.  Load the disk with the menu option, following on-screen instructions. We strongly suggest loading this disk upon receipt, as prices will not be affected until you activate them.  This will help eliminate any possible last minute problems with the disk itself.

*Once you get to the field where it asks for the MFR Code BE SURE to remove the disk. If you do not remove the disk and have to reboot the system, the system will not restart.

  1. Mfr Code: Your Mfr Code

  1. Effective Date: Be sure to pick an effective date that is not already in use for price updates.

  1. Cost Code (98): Enter in your Replacement Cost Code, usually 98.  (Or type B to update both Replacement (98) and Warehouse (99) Cost.  We recommend only updating 98.

  1. List Code (Yellow Sheet): Enter in your Price Code for the Yellow Sheet prices, usually Price Code 5 - Refinisher Price.  This is the Far Right column price on the price sheet.

  1. Add parts Not on file: If you want to add those parts on the disk that are not in your database file, enter a <Y> and <Enter>.  This will set the Case Lot of these new part numbers to Y for Yes if Each Per Billing Unit is greater than 1.

NOTE:  This program will not modify existing part numbers setup.  It will only update the price.

If you do not want to add the new part numbers, enter an <N> and press <Enter>.

If you do not want to add all Not on File Parts, answer <N> to this question. The Next prompt will ask if you want to add NEW parts ONLY.

  1. Each's Markup: This will affect ALL part numbers with Each Per Unit greater than 1.  The 3M disk comes with the larger Unit of Measure, not EACH.  This program will create an EACH Unit of Measure and calculate the EACH price off of the Billing Unit price.  This is done by taking the larger Unit of Measure price (Yellow Sheet) and dividing it by the Standard Pack (Each's per Billing Unit) and then marking up per the number you enter here.  If you enter 128.00, the price will be marked up 28%.  128.00 should be used to calculate very closely to the 3M Eaches price in the price sheet.  See below if you want to match the 3M price sheet exactly.

Leave blank if you do not want the EACH created.

NEW FOR 1999 – Enter 0.00 to load the actual published list price from the 3M Price book for

EACHes.  This would be the amount under the column “List Price Each”.

  1. NEW FOR 1999 – Use Broken Case Price: Answer <Y> to use the pricing found in the column labeled Broken Case (Yellow Sheet).  Leave blank or answer <N> to use the pricing found in the column labeled 1 Case (Yellow Sheet – Far Right).  Whatever price code you entered in field 5 will be updated with this price.

  1. NEW FOR 1999 – Use Broken Case Cost: Answer <Y> to use the pricing found in the column labeled Broken Case (W/D Net Costs).  Leave blank or answer <N> to use the pricing found in the column labeled Full Case (W/D Net Costs – Far Right).  Whatever price code you entered in field 3 will be updated with this cost.  If you answer <Y> and there are items that do not have a Broken Case cost listed in the price book, then the Full Case cost will be used for those items only.

  1. Unit of Measure: The Mfr Unit on the left is what 3M uses.  The "Your Unit of Measure" on the right is what your Unit of Measure is.  Make corrections to the preset Unit of Measure to match what is in your system.  (For example, if you use CS for a case, change CASE to CS.)  Continue down the list by pressing <Enter>.

IMPORTANT:  If the Unit of Measure is different than what is in your system, it will not update the price.  Example:  If you use EACH for KIT, the update program will look for KIT and see that it is not there and by-pass that price update.  If you change KIT to your Unit of Measure EACH, than the update program will update the price.

At Enter Selection, enter a C to convert the update information.

If you want a report of items that are not on file (in the update disk but not in your inventory file), enter a Y at the prompt, and press <Enter>.

If you want a report of items in your inventory that did NOT get updated, enter a Y at the prompt, and press <Enter>.

NOTE:  The reports will be long.  It is highly recommended that both reports be run.

NOTE:  $0.00 costs/prices will NOT be updated.

NOTE:  An Error List with errors and additions will automatically be generated.

This update loads the information into the Preload file in "Markup Prices" in Inventory.  At this point the update acts as if you have manually typed in the new prices.  To review the list, you may print a "Preload Prices Report" (5.6.2.4) using the effective date.

You MUST Activate Preload Prices (5.6.2.5) to have the new prices take effect.  At the Activation DO NOT Maintain GP Structure unless you are fully aware of what you are doing.  You should use the default of N at this question.

Please make a note of any new Units of Measure of Part Numbers and manually add them to your Inventory.

*If doing additional markups off of the newly activated costs or prices... be sure to use a different effective date.
