Change Inventory Status
Previous Topic  Next Topic

There is a utility available from TCL to Change the Inventory Status on part numbers based on Quantity On Hand (QOH), Quantity On Order (QOO) or Quantity On Hold (QHD). This program will update the Inventory Status in "Inventory Entry" in INVENTORY (5.1.1 field 7) for ALL Part Numbers. Items that have positive QOH, QOO or QHD will be set to Active, and optionally items with Qty Sales History over a specified number of previous months. All other parts will be made Inactive, unless the item is already marked as Obsolete.

From TCL enter: SHL UPDATE.INV.STATUS

The following prompts will appear:

Enter MFR or press <ENTER> for ALL:

* A specific MFR product line can be altered or <ENTER> for all part numbers.

Enter Location to check Qtys & Sales History or <ENTER> for ALL:

* A location can be specified to only look at a particular location's QOH, QOO, QHD and Sales History. Normally you would want to check ALL locations for activity.

Enter Number of Months of Sales History or <ENTER> for None:

* If you want to disregard sales history entirely, and determine the Status based only on inventory quantities, you would press <ENTER> when prompted for number of months. Otherwise, the program will go back the previous specified number of months and check for Sales and/or Lost Sales.

If you wish to prevent changing items that were entered after a certain date,

please enter the date in MM/DD/YY format:

* You can choose to "protect" recently entered part numbers that have yet to be purchased or sold by specifying a date to be compared against the Date Entered of a part number. These new part numbers will not be affected by this program.

Are you sure that you wish to continue (Y/N):

Once all prompts have been completed, the program will process the part numbers and change the status of each item if necessary. All part indexes are updated as changes are made, so no index rebuilds are not necessary.

TCL - SET.INVL.HOLD.UNIT

This utility program will automatically set the Hold Unit at POS field in Inventory Entry (5.1.1 field 31) to <Y> on Obsolete parts that have no Quantity on Hand, Quantity on Order, POS Qty Back Ordered, POS Qty on Hold or Defective Quantity on Hand.

You can use option <S> at the end of the command to set all sub-units for case-lot part numbers to be on hold at point of sale:

SET.INVL.HOLD.UNIT (S

Items that are set to Case Lot "Y", and only have one unit of measure will not be affected.
