5.1.16 Bin Loc Entry
Previous Topic  Next Topic

You may have multiple Bin Locations set for a Part Number. The primary or first Bin Location will be printed in most areas of the system. This feature is useful if you store a product in more than one place in your warehouse.

Once you have entered the Part Number, you will be prompted for Location#, then Unit of Measure.

Note: If Bin Rules are in effect, at the Part # prompt you may Enter <I> for the Invalid Bin Report based on the settings found in "Bin Rules Entry" in SYSTEM MANAGEMEMT (10.2.4.5), for your Location.

You may make multiple Bin Location Entries. Enter the Bin Location for the Unit of Measure and press <ENTER>. Leave a blank in the Primary position if you do not want a primary position. Leading and trailing spaces will be removed from the Bin Location when it is being entered.

Note: If Bin Rules exist, Bin Locs will be validated against the ranges found in "Bin Rules Entry" in SYSTEM MANAGEMENT (10.2.4.5), and will not be allowed unless a valid Bin Type is found. The Bin Type will be displayed for each Bin, and the Bin Zone (if present) will be shown in the highlight bar next to Entry Options.

You may enter a new Quantity on Hand for each Bin Location. If the new QOH is less than the QOH listed, you will be prompted for the Bin Location to Move the balance to. If the new QOH is more than the QOH listed, you will be asked for the Bin Location to move the QOH from. There must be QOH available from another Bin Location. If you leave an Overstock Bin QOH, Replacement Level, and Capacity blank or equal to zero (0), the Bin Location will be deleted automatically when you save the entry.

Note: If Bin Rules exist, all items, whether defective or not, must go in a bin. Defective Bins (type <D>) may not be the Primary (first) Bin Location. If quantities are moved to or from a defective bin, the display to the left of the Bin Locs will be updated accordingly. These defective bin moves will update the QOH and the Defective QOH for the part number, and create Journal Entries moving inventory value to or from the Warranty Inventory account. The user will also be prompted for a Salesperson Code upon saving, in order to update QOH Tracking. If the user remains in the program working on additional part numbers, the Salesperson Code prompt will not appear again.

Next enter the Replenishment Level for the Bin Location. This value can be used in the Replenishment option of the “Physical Inventory Count Sheet” (5.2.10) to print Bin Location with QOH less than or equal to this level.

The Capacity level represents the maximum QOH to put in a Bin Location. This field can also be used to prevent the system from automatically deleting a Bin Location when there is no QOH and no Replenishment Level.

A Comment may be entered for each Bin Location. You may use this to document the date the Bin Location was created. There are 23 characters available in this field.

You may edit the Bin Locations once entered. At the ENTER SELECTION field, enter a <B> and press <ENTER>. The cursor will now be at the first Bin Location.

The Bin Location may be Moved to the Primary Position #1. The Primary Bin Location will be the only Bin Location to print in most areas of the system. At the ENTER SELECTION prompt, enter an <M> and press <ENTER>.
