10.2.7.2 Function Keys
Previous Topic  Next Topic

The use of Function Keys can reduce the number of keystrokes for some jobs. Each portl can have its own set of Function keys and the Shift/Function keys.

Example:  To access "Customer Entry" from the Main Menu you can use the Path 6.1.1 and then press <ENTER>. Function Key F1 can be entered 6.1.1~ (the <~> tilde is used as the <ENTER> key). If you need to enter a customer press <ESC> to return to the Main Menu and then press F1 to execute the move to "Customer Entry."

Port Number Option

Function Key Entry allows the entry of a Port Number. Initially the Port Number will default to the current port, but the user can change it to any port desired. This gives greater administrative control over setting up function keys for ports throughout the system. Additionally, a <C>opy feature is available to easily replicate settings to other ports:

* <#> =Edit Field.

* <X> =Do not Save Changes to Keys.

* <+>#=Edit Starting at Field.                      * <D> =Delete Function Key Entry.

* <S> =Save Function Key Entry.                  * <C> =Save and Copy Function Keys.

Note: The <C>opy option will Save the current port, so if changes are made during the edit session, those changes will also be copied to the desired port. For convenience, after the copy has been completed, the user will be returned to the Enter Selection prompt to facilitate additional copying if needed.

When editing a different port number other than your own, or copying settings to a different port, user(s) must log off and back on to pick up the new function key settings.
