Remote File System Error Fix in D3 in D3
Previous Topic  Next Topic
  1. Check for data corruption in DM by doing an FSCK.  Write down the problem files and what account they are in.  Identify which files can be deleted and restored or even re indexed.

  1. If you are going to restore from the current FS file, rename the FS (File Save) to FSXXXXX(todays date).

  1. When you have identified that a the file can restored or re indexed, use D3 to do an FSFIX on the account (ex. >FSFIX PM.DIST).  This will fix the file (if it can) and bring you back to >.

  1. END out of > by typing g <enter> and end <enter> then do a DELETE-FILE XXX(file name). Example: DELETE-FILE TERM.TABLE

  1. If this does not work, then go to the desktop and click on Start>Programs>D3>File Manager. Click on File>Open Domain then double click on Databases then account that has the corrupted file then single click on Tables. Go to the top and click on Edit>Edit D Pointer, a box will appear and type the corrupted file name and hit enter. Field will populate and info will appear on the file and click Delete.

  1. Now open Window Explorer and go to Program Files on C: or D: drive and find D3>D3 Databases and open the account that corrupted file is in. In list, you will see the file and deleted it.

  1. Then go back into that account in Accuterm and recreate the file (ex. CREATE-FILE TERM.TABLE 1 3). Get the module size (last number in the command) from our system or their system by doing a LF XXX(file name).

  1. Now restore the file or FTPICK the file (if coming from our system) into the account that it was remove from. To connect to the FS file, type T-SELECT and pick the dev-make for file save then T-REW or connect to another FS file with different name type: DEV-MAKE T TAPE A “C:\SAVES\FS11.11.03,P” and hit enter and then do a T-SELECT and pick the new number.

  1. Then type SEL-RESTORE XXXX(file name), example SEL-RESTORE TERM.TYPE <enter>. Then F (for full) <enter>, enter in account name <enter>, type in file name <enter> and N <enter> then N <enter>. It should said 1 item restore, log off and back on and go back into the system and test it.

  1. If you are just needing to do a rebuild, then run the rebuild (a list is at the bottom of this doc) and log off and back on and you should be set.

  1. After the files are either rebuilt or restored, run another FSCK in DM to be sure it is clean.
