Loading a Full Account-Save Perform Update


  1. Insert tape in tape drive.


  1. Log to DM.  (From Main Menu, type DM<Enter>)


  1. Type: FREE<Enter>, and note the available disk space in the MB column.


  1. Choose one of the following options on dealing with the existing formula account and the PL.PROGRAMS   account:


  1. If there are more than 200 megs available on the hard drive, it is faster to rename the old accounts 

than to delete them:


  1. Type: U MDS xxxx <Enter>

(Where xxxx=Account Name being updated such as BASF, SW, etc.)


  1. On line 1 of the item on the screen there will be a D.  Type DX (overstriking the D).


  1. Type: <CTRL>X I


  1. Enter new name of account, using .OLD at the end of the current account name, such as BASF.OLD,   SW.OLD, etc.


  1. Repeat steps 1 through 4, for account name PL.PROGRAMS


  1. Accounts are now renamed and you can proceed with loading the tape.  During the next file-save and restore (:FILES), this old account will not be restored.


  1. If disk space is a problem (under 200 megs), delete the accounts with:

DELETE-ACCOUNT PL.PROGRAMS<Enter>

DELETE-ACCOUNT xxxx <Enter>  

(Where xxxx=Account Name being updated such as BASF, SW, etc.)

For both delete commands, you will be prompted with 2 questions:


  1. Type T-SELECT 2 <Enter>.
  2. Type RESTORE-ACCOUNTS <Enter>.
  3. Restore will take between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the size of the account and the speed of the system.
  4. Type OFF<Enter>, and log back on as normal.
