The Unit of Measure may be up to six (6) characters.
1. The Unit Description is the full name of the Unit of Measure.
Examples of common Unit of Measures:
Each=Each (Individual Item) |
Case=Case |
OZ=Ounce |
LB=Pound |
PINT=Pint |
QT=Quart |
GAL=Gallon |
LTR=Liter |
2. The Unit Weight is used on Purchasing Reports and Purchase Orders.
Helpful Hint: You can use "Unit Weight" to calculate total gallons. Enter the decimal equivalent of the gallon (1.0 = 1 gallon, .25 = 1 quart). If the Unit of Measure is one case of six quarts, the gallonage is 1.5 gallons. This is used on Purchase Orders when there is a minimum gallonage required.
3. The Haz Mat Shipper Unit is a free-form field that will print instead of the regular unit of measure on the Haz Mat Shipper section of invoices and bills of lading. Typically, this will be used to group similar units of measure together on the Haz Mat Shipper. Rather than using the Unit of Measure, the Haz Mat Shipper will summarize and print by Haz Mat Shipper Unit.
You may copy a Unit of Measure to a New Unit by typing <C> at Enter Selection at the bottom on the screen: <C> = Copy Unit to New Unit
After entering the new Unit of Measure, the following prompt appears:
Enter New Unit of Measure: EACH
*** Warning - Unit already exists. ***
This will change the Unit of Measure in All pertinent files in the system.
The process will take a long time. Enter <C> to continue:
The program then checks every part in the system to see if the copy would result in one unit of measure being present in any part twice. If any potential duplicates are found, a report is generated listing the part numbers that would contain duplicate units of measure. These items must be addressed manually in order to perform the copy.
If no duplicates are found, the copy will continue and all files and setups containing the old unit of measure will be updated with the new unit of measure. As with the option to copy MFRs, if a duplicate file item is discovered containing a previously deleted unit of measure, no merge will be performed and the item will not be copied. A report will be generated at the end of the process showing any items that were not copied.
It is recommended that this feature be utilized during times when the system is idle. This feature may take a long time to run on systems with large amounts of data.
